Gomalan on percussion

The marriage between brass and percussion is very strong: percussion add energy and particular sonority to brass sound, from classic music to jazz. This is the reason why the Gomalan Brass Quintet chose a custom- made repertoire that highlights this extended ensemble/music group: from Lully’s dances to a suite from P.I. Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker; from “O Fortuna” from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana to Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird final.

In the second part the sound is new overwhelming sound: from C. Basie’s Big Band to “Sing Sing Sing”, Louis Prima’s stirring song; from the brasilian “Mas que nada” to Astor Piazzolla music, to end up with John Williams “Swing”.
