The Gomalan brass quintet “ON ITALY” offers a purely Italian repertoire. Opera is the hub of the first part, with a reinterpretation of Nabucco Symphony, followed by the famous Triumphal March with Chorus and Ballets from Verdi’s Aida, a Bohème Suite and the aria “Nessun dorma” from Puccini’s Turandot. This program opens with Giovanni Gabrieli’s Music, one of the first composers of instrumental music for brass bright sound.
In the second part, Ennio Morricone’s music is inevitable, with an exciting suite from Maestro’s most famous movies like Mission, Once upon a Time in the West, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly; followed by greatest authors of light music like Luigi Tenco, Fred Buscaglione e Fred Bongusto.
After a Suite of 30s and 40s music, that expresses the Italian character with all its beauty, the recital ends with a blues that the famous jazz musician Mauro Ottolini wrote specially for the quintet. This blues was inspired by a very successful motion picture of Buster Keaton.
